AI in Rostrel

Rostrel Assistant: the AI built into your roster.

The Rostrel Assistant is an in-app AI that fills open shifts, flags unfilled gaps, and answers plain-language questions about your roster and finances — "which shifts are unfilled?", "who's available Thursday?", "catch me up on this fortnight." It's included on Rostrel's paid plans.

No other NDIS rostering platform we've evaluated has an equivalent built directly into the roster itself. This page explains what it actually does, not what an AI feature generically promises.

What the Rostrel Assistant actually does

Fills open shifts

Ask it to propose the best available worker for each unfilled shift, and it checks availability, qualifications, and prior assignment against the participant's needs.

Surfaces gaps before they become problems

Ask "what shifts are unfilled this fortnight?" and get a direct answer, instead of scanning a roster grid manually.

Answers finance and ops questions in plain language

"Catch me up on this fortnight" returns a summary of claims ready to invoice, compliance flags, overdue invoices, and expiring funding plans — the same signals that feed Rostrel's own daily operational reporting, surfaced conversationally on demand.

Understands your actual roster

Not a generic scheduling model — it sits inside the same system that already knows your SCHADS-aware shift costs, participant funding lines, and worker records.

Why this exists inside the roster, not as a separate tool

A chatbot bolted onto a rostering platform can only answer questions about what it's told. The Rostrel Assistant sits inside the same system that builds the roster, costs the shift, and generates the claim — so a question like "who's available Thursday" is answered from the live roster, not a stale export.

Who it's for

Coordinators and administrators who want to ask their roster a question instead of hunting for the answer in a grid — particularly useful on the days that don't go to plan: last-minute cancellations, sudden gaps, or a fortnight that needs a fast catch-up before a coordinator meeting.

Availability

The Rostrel Assistant is included on Rostrel's paid plans (from $299/month, priced by active participants). It is not included in the free tier (8 staff/15 participants, launching 1 August 2026) — the Free plan covers core rostering, documentation, and billing without the AI assistant. See full pricing and plans.

How it fits the rest of Rostrel

The Assistant isn't a bolt-on — it draws on the same roster, case notes, and claim data covered on our rostering, billing, and compliance pages. See those pages for the underlying system it sits inside.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Rostrel Assistant included in the free tier?

No. The Free plan (8 staff/15 participants) covers core rostering, documentation, and billing. The Rostrel Assistant is available on paid plans only.

Can it actually assign shifts, or just suggest them?

It proposes the best available worker for each open shift based on availability, qualifications, and prior assignment — a coordinator confirms before it's published.

Does it work with voice, or is it text-based?

It's a text-based in-app assistant you type questions to directly inside Rostrel.

Does it replace a coordinator's judgment?

No — it surfaces information and proposes options; a person confirms and publishes.
